Born in England 1955, Benn Clatworthy grew up in
London. Active in the London music scene during the
1970's, he moved to Los Angeles in 1980  where he
studied Saxophone, Flute, and Clarinet with Phil Sobel.
In the late 80's he was recommended for Horace
Silver's band, Horace in turn recommended Benn to
discovery records resulting in his first CD release as a
leader "Thanks Horace". During this period he also
performed with Cedar Walton, Lionel Hampton, Jimmy
Cleveland, and many other jazz greats. He now has 16
CD's to his credit. This year -2011- he has performed
with Grammy nominated pianist John Beasley, The Los
Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, done a short tour of
the UK, and performed with his own quartet w/ Steve
Cotter, Chris Colangelo, and Roy McCurdy. He also
leads the Francisco Aguabella Latin Jazz Band.
